Kids Ministry at The Gathering
We have reopened the Kids Gathering with
Classroom sizes and Online Registration
Part of our COVID-19 response to provide a safe environment for kids involves limiting the number of kids in each classroom. Starting on September 12, we will offer three classes on Sunday mornings. Our toddler class will be for kids aged 2 to JK and will have a maximum of 8 kids. We will have a SK-Grade 2 class which will have a max of 10 kids. We will also offer a Grade 3-5 class which will have a max of 10 kids.
We will be asking parents to register their kids for each class online, every week. You will find a link to the online registration on our church’s website. If classes are full, you can register your family in the worship centre and your kids can enjoy the service with you. We will not exceed our classroom limits.
Masks and Sanitizing
We are taking the lead from schools when it comes to the wearing of face coverings for children. Our church leadership strongly encourages all school-aged children to wear a face covering because we cannot ensure that all children will be able to practice physical distancing during their classes. It is important that parents recognize and assume the potential risk of bringing their children to our worship services.
We will require that adults and children use hand sanitizer as they enter the building. All Kids Workers will be required to wear masks.
Water bottles & Class Materials
We do have one water fountain in our building. While it is completely cleaned and sanitized often, we will not be able to sanitize it after every use. We strongly suggest that each child brings their own labeled water bottle to class. We will also prepare packets of materials for each child to limit sharing and unnecessary contact.
While we do have two thermometers on site, at this time, we will not require a temperature check for kids when they arrive on site. We graciously ask parents to screen their children at home and ask that no one comes into our building if they are experiencing any sickness or COVID-19 symptoms.

We understand that safety is a top priority for families. It is a top priority in the Kids Gathering as well. We implement several processes to ensure that Sunday morning are as safe as possible:
-All adult workers must obtain a police clearance before they can serve in the Kids Gathering
-All workers must complete an application, complete required training elements, provide references, and be interviewed by a staff member.
-We have designated security volunteers who patrol the Kids Gathering during the service
-All kids are checked in through a secure computer software system and parents/guardians receive a parent label to use in the check out process
-All classes have at least two workers present
-We utilize a paging system to notify parents/guardians of any incident needing their attention
The Gospel Project for Kids
Our Sunday morning teaching times for our Primary classes (Sk -Grade 2 and Grade 3-5), draw from Lifeway's The Gospel Project for Kids Curriculum.
The Gospel Project® for Kids immerses kids and preschoolers in the gospel through every story, theological concept, and call to mission from Genesis to Revelation. Ultimately, the gospel message changes everything; heart transformation can only take place when a child experiences the gospel. Through The Gospel Project® for Kids, kids and preschoolers will understand the Bible is not just a collection of stories, but one unified story—God’s story of redemption.
