Jesus Christ :: Head of the Church
This is not just a funky idea. We believe it.
The Bible makes it very clear that Jesus is the head of the church, not the elders or the search committee. Read Colossians 1:15-20 ESV, "He is the image of the invisible God ... all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross."
Garth Leno :: Senior Pastor
He enjoys gardening, reading, hockey, and his five grandchildren.
Garth's gift is preaching and teaching, and he brings a high dedication to the text of Holy Scripture combined with a passionate devotion to Christ and the strong application of Biblical truth to daily life. He holds five earned degrees, including the Doctor of Ministry degree from Bethel Theological Seminary. Garth has published widely and traveled frequently speaking at conferences and retreats, but his all-time greatest joy comes from preaching and teaching God’s Word. Garth and Patty have three children: Nathan married to Sarah with 3 children, and Kristin married to Dave with 2 children.
Phil Siebenmorgen :: Associate Pastor
He enjoys Star Wars, Colorado Avalanche, and family time.
After 6 fruitful years of ministry in British Columbia, as a pastor to youth and young adults, Phil moved across the country with his family to take up a new role created at The Gathering in January 2016. His keen desire is to serve and glorify Jesus Christ by helping to create & sustain a gospel-centered ministry that seeks to make disciples who can make disciples. Both Phil and his wife, Brandy, are graduates of Briercrest Bible College, and together they enjoy four beautiful gifts from God named Mackenzie, Noelle, Joab and Drew.
My Nguyen :: Director of Community Outreach for The Vietnamese Gathering
My and Dao Nguyen immigrated to Canada from Vietnam in 1993 as newlyweds, and settled in Windsor. My was born into a Christian family, and surrendered his life to Jesus Christ at the age of 17. His wife, Dao, began to follow Jesus just before they were married. In the summer of 2010, after a short mission trip to Cambodia, My and Dao sensed the call of God upon their lives to serve as missionaries somewhere in Asia. In 2012 they served as missionaries for 15 months in Taipei, Taiwan. More recently, My served as the pastor of a local church in Guelph, Ontario, and they have an international ministry discipling Vietnamese believers. As part of our team, they will seek to connect with more Vietnamese people in Windsor-Essex and introduce them to Jesus.
